Joker movie controversy continues. Director Todd Phillips thinks comedy is dead due to Twitter SJW backlash and woke culture.
Movie director Todd Phillips best known for comedy movies like the “Hangover” trilogy, “Road Trip,” “Old School,” and the 2004 remake of “Starsky & Hutch,” answered why he left the genre to take on the Joaquin Phoenix Joker movie. It’s due to social justice warriors not allowing the filmmaker to direct comedy movies the way that he wants.
In a new interview with Vanity Fair Todd Phillips calls out political correctness. “Go try to be funny nowadays with this woke culture,” Todd Phillips told Vanity Fair. “There were articles written about why comedies don’t work anymore — I’ll tell you why, because all the funny guys are like, ‘F this , because I don’t want to offend you.’”
The Joker movie director Todd Phillips Is also afraid of Twitter social justice warriors, he continues “It’s hard to argue with 30 million people on Twitter. You just can’t do it, right? So you just go, ‘I’m out.’ I’m out, and you know what? With all my comedies — I think that what comedies, in general, all have in common — is they’re irreverent. So I go, ‘How do I do something irreverent, but f comedy? Oh I know, let’s take the comic book movie universe and turn it on its head with this.’ And so that’s really where that came from.”
What do you think? Is comedy dead due to the ultra sensitive political correct sjw cringe society we live in on social media or should The Joker Movie director evolve his comedic style to match with modern times? A lot of people think comedy is dying because there are so many triggered sjws out there.
