ESPN President Jimmy Pitaro admits the Disney owned sports network isn’t a political channel. Duh! I thought that was obvious?
Jimmy Pitaro, former president of Disney Interactive admits the obvious about ESPN and said to the Los Angeles Times that traditional fans of the sports channel don’t want to see the network personalities talk politics in sports on shows like First Take (Molly Qerim), The Jump (Rachel Nichols), SportsCenter, and the NBA (LeBron James) and NFL broadcasts.
“Without question our data tells us our fans do not want us to cover politics,” Pitaro said. “My job is to provide clarity. I really believe that some of our talent was confused on what was expected of them. If you fast-forward to today, I don’t believe they are confused.”
I also read a Deadspin article by journalist Laura Wagner who wanted to go the social justice route and make it about old white people. With a title like “ESPN President: We’re Going To Keep The Old Whites Happy”, who is to take her journalistic integrity serious?
I have a few ESPN questions for you!
– Do you want to see politics in sports when you watch ESPN?
– Why did you stop watching ESPN?
– What would bring you back to watch ESPN?
